Burlap Hairbows

It seems I always have burlap and scraps of burlap hanging around these days, so I just put together these little girl hair bows really quick one night...perfect for the Fall!

Supplies:
burlap
ribbon (any color)
hair clips

I started by ironing a rectangle of burlap like so....

Then I hot glued it together.

Next, I hot glued a strip of ribbon to the back, wrapped it around and glued to the back again.  Make sure to pull it tight, so it bunches the burlap in, forming a bow.

Then just glue it the hair clip and  that's it.

Pom-Pom Pumpkins

I made this simple pom-pom pumpkins for the girls one day while they were at school.

Supplies:
yarn
pipe cleaners
felt
pom-pom maker

I started by making 2 medium size pom-poms.

Next, I cut out two felt leaves for each.

Then I folded a green pipe cleaner and twisted the longer in around the shorter in to make the stem.  I left a small hole at the bottom and attached a vine (a spiral of green pipe cleaner).

Last step, hot glue the two leaves in the pom-pom and then hot glue the stem in the middle.  Sorta push the stem down into the pom-pom and the leaves will sit up.

You could also use red yarn and make apples the same way!

Burlap Pumpkin

I've been seeing a lot of these burlap door hangings around, so I thought I'd give it a try.

Supplies:
burlap
acrylic paint
wire
clear spray
newspaper
parchment paper

I started by making a simple pumpkin pattern out of newspaper and cutting two out of burlap.

Next, I drew a chevron design on one of the pumpkins.  Then put parchment paper under it and started painting!

Then I sewed the two pumpkins together and stuffed with plastic bags.

I forgot to take a picture, but at this point I took it outside and sprayed the painted side with a couple coats of clear spray.  Once it was dry, I attached a bow and wire to hang.

This project was really simple and I have a lot of ideas to make using this same method!
