Simple Child's Tank Dress

A year or so ago, I made this dress for myself....

Using this same design, I made the girls each a similar dress.

Tank top (I got theirs at Wal-Mart)
two material prints

I got this really cute yellow Golden Book fabric on my trip to Boston last Spring.  The red dot, I had on-hand.  B wears a size 8, for hers, I cut a piece of yellow fabric 36 in. X 21 in.  MK wears a size 5T, for hers, I cut a piece of yellow fabric 33 in. X 16 in.  One yard of fabric was enough to make both dresses.

I pretty much followed the exact same directions for my dress, except the top, I ironed down an edge and sewed that with the regular/elastic thread.

Here is the top of one of the skirts all gathered up.
Next, I cut the tank tops the length I wanted. pinned the skirt on and sewed.

Once that was done, I just hemmed the skirt bottom.

I decided to add red polka dot pockets to each dress.  For B's, I cut a 7 in X 7 in square and MK's, I cut a 6 in. X 6 in. square.

Then I just pinned them on the skirt and sewed.
