Minnie Mouse Clippie

Our family has a trip to Disney planned this Summer, so I have been working on several Disney crafts in anticipation of the trip.  This week, I will be posting several of these crafts.

I made the girls these 'Minnie Mouse' dresses using the simple tank dress I have made a couple times on the blog (here and here).

First craft is a Minnie Mouse hair clip.  I made smaller versions of these for the girls last time we went to Disney, but since they have grown, I decided to make some larger ones.

black grosgrain ribbon
red grosgrain ribbon
hair clips
hot glue

Cut the black ribbon as so...
Minnie's head:
1 piece 3 and 3/4 inches
1 piece 3 inches
1 piece 2 and 1/4 inches
Minnie's ears:
2 pieces 2 inches

First, I covered my clip.  You can use an alligator type clip or the type of clip I am using here, either works fine.

Next, glue all your black ribbon pieces cut for the head into circles.  You should end up with 3 circles for each hair clip (I was making two for this project).  I like to glue the ribbon together, hold for a second and then squeeze the ribbon ends together with pliers, this really seals them together.

After that, just glue the 3 circles together, one inside the other. Glue at the seam of each circle.

Make circles out of the two pieces of ribbon cut for the ears in the same method.  Then just glue to the head.

After that, just glue the Minnie heads to your clip.  You should glue where the ears connect to the head.

I made this cardboard contraption a while back to make small hair bows.  Simply wrap the ribbon around, hold in place with two alligator clips.  Tie in the center with thread and ta-da...a tiny hair bow!

Finally, just glue the little bow on Minnie's ear!
