Styrofoam Christmas Trees

12 Days of Christmas Crafts - Day 3!!

I couple years ago, I made a nativity out of felt.  I decided to make some trees to go around it to add to the scene.

Here's what you need:
Styrofoam cones in various sizes
scrapbook paper
circlet punch

For the first tree, I used some brown yarn.  I first hot glued a piece of felt to the bottom of the tree, cut to fit.  Then I just started wrapping the yarn around, hot gluing every so often.

Once I was done, I decided to add some circle garland.  Using a circle punch, I punched circles out of scrapbook paper and sewed them together into a garland.

Then, I just wrapped the garland around the tree and hot glued in a few spots.

For the next tree, I covered it with felt.  I made this simple pattern and cut out the shape from various colors of felt.

Again, I first covered the bottom of the cone with a felt circle, then just started hot-gluing the felt on overlapping in various spots.  I also glued a strip of felt around the bottom to start.

When I got to the top, I glued a circle around the top and then continued with the overlapping felt.

Last one!  Using a larger circle punch, I punched many circles out of  scrapbook paper.

I covered the bottom of the tree with a felt circle again.  I also glued a felt strip around the bottom and a felt circle around the top, wrapping it around.

Then I just started hot-gluing the paper circles on in rows until it was covered.

Last thing I did was make a felt star, by tracing a cookie cutter onto felt.

Stitching it up, stuffing it and putting toothpick in one end.

Here are all the trees....

And here they are with the nativity....

  1. Very cute! All three look nice--hard to pick but the paper circle tree is probably my favorite.
