Christmas Owl Ornaments

12 Days of Christmas Crafts - Day 5!

It's no secret that I have been making a lot of owls this year!  Naturally, I had to make some Christmas ornaments.  Last night, I FINALLY finished all the ones I planned to sew and put on our Christmas gifts!!

Supplies:
Felt
ribbon
embroidery floss
buttons
pillow stuffing

I made a simple owl pattern and cut out two pieces of felt for each owl.

Next I cut wings for some owls and hearts for others.

White felt circles and buttons for the eyes.

Once everything was cut out, I got to sewing!  I also added a little orange beak on each one.

Here's the heart version...

And here's the wing version...

Next, I used a blanket stitch to stitch around the outside.

Don't forget to sew a ribbon to hang it at the top.

When I got about half way around, I started to stuff the owl.

And here is the first one, all done!!

I made several in red and turquoise for my church sale.  Then I made pastel ones for our Christmas gifts.

  1. These are adorable! I've never sewed with felt before - did you just sew it all by hand?
