Child's Advent Wreath

Today, starts my 12 days of Christmas crafts!!  Be sure to follow along the next 12 weekdays :)

I will be making these little Advent wreaths with the children at church this year.  It's pretty simple and comes out cute for a child's craft.  Here is description of an Advent Wreath and what each candle means. I plan to explain this to the children when we make it.

Supplies:
small Styrofoam wreath (6 inch or smaller)
green paint
greens (I purchased the picks that cost $1 or less, it takes about 3)
birthday candles (1 pink, 1 white, 3 purple)
floral wire (optional)

To start, I painted my wreath green.  I am probably going to purchase green wreaths for the children, so we can skip this step.

Next I stuck my birthday candles in (1 pink, 1 white, 3 purple).

Then I used my wire cutters and cut the floral picks apart.

After that, I just started sticking the greenery in and bending it around the wreath.

Once I had it pretty well covered, I used floral wire and wrapped it around the wreath a few times.  You may not need to do this, some of my greens were not staying in well, so I decided to do this.

Here it is all done.  If you burn the candles, DO NOT leave it unattended.  Birthday candles burn pretty fast and the greens could easily catch fire.
