Burlap Christmas Tree Wall Hanging

12 Days of Christmas Crafts - Day 6!!

Here's a quick craft that used up some of my scraps of material.

Supplies:
burlap
scraps of material
Wonderunder
rick-rack

I started by cutting my burlap into a square, mine was about 10x10 inches. But, you could make it as big or small as you want.

Then I decided the order I wanted my material scraps.

Then I cut the scraps into strips about 2 inches tall and about 10 inches long (the length of the burlap).

I then laid the strips out on the wonder under and ironed it on.

Then I cut the strips out and peeled the layer of wonder under paper off.

I cut a piece of brown felt for the trunk and laid it down. I did not put wonder under on it.

Next I laid the strips of material down.  I cut some of them thinner, so the strips were of varying width.

I also made a little star for the top and then ironed everything down.

Next I frayed the edges of the burlap a little bit.

And sewed a piece of rick-rack at the top to hang.

Almost done!

Since the burlap is kinda flimsy, I cut a piece of interfacing to sew on the back to make it more stable.

And that's it...a cute little wall hanging for Christmas.  I think this would also make a cute pillow as well.
