Burlap Owl

I have made a lot of ornaments out of felt for Christmas and other holidays, but this time I decided to give burlap a try since I had some extra lying around.  I'm loving owls this season, so I decided to make an owl.

Supplies:
Two colors of burlap
embroidery floss
buttons
paper
pillow stuffing
ribbon

I started by drawing a simple owl on paper and cutting it out for my pattern.  The owls body is just a circle and then I drew some wings on.

Pin the owl pattern to the brown burlap and cut out two.

I then cut one of the wings off my pattern and cut two wings out of orange burlap.

Using a back-stitched, I sewed the two wings on down one side.

Next, I sewed on two button eyes and a yellow beak from some left of felt I had.

Then I blanket-stitched the back piece of brown burlap on.

And stuffed him using pillow stuffing.

Here he is hanging on our antique dresser in the hallway (although, my 7 year old said she wants to put him in her room :)
