Hokie Pokey

With Fall comes Football and so begins our treks to Blacksburg, VA to see Virginia Tech play.  For those non-Virginians, the Hokie Bird is Virginia Tech's mascot and during the 3rd quarter everyone (of course) dances the Hokie Pokey.  I admit football is not my favorite way to spend a Saturday afternoon, but I do love a good tailgate and we are lucky enough to attend a GREAT one!  (It's nice to have friends in high places with a fabulous RV!!)

Of course going to the game means dressing the part and being the fashionista I am, I can't just wear some bookstore t-shirt that anybody could have!

Sooo...whilst perusing Target one day, I came upon this maroon shirt and knew I just had to have it to wear to the game.  (Bonus: It was even on sale that week!!)  One problem, it was just maroon and VA Tech's colors are well... maroon AND orange.  No problem!

So, I started with this....

Stopped by Joanne's and picked up some orange buttons....

Tried a few arrangements on the shirt to see what I liked best....

Check out that little orange lady bug button, so cute, Right?!?  That little thing was on clearance for $1.00 and I got 2 on the card!! Score!

Sewed the buttons on and SHAZAM, a fabulous shirt to wear to the game!

Tada, here's me wearing the shirt!

Shirt: Target (embellished by me); Tank: Anthropologie; Skinnies: Loft; Boots: Aldo

I don't know why you would want to, but I suppose you could change up the shirt and button colors to any team combination you like.  But, seriously...would any combination look better than this?!?  Happy sewing!!
